Soulmate West Hollywood
Chef Wes Whitsell has named his soon-to-open West Hollywood restaurant Soulmate. The former Gjelina and Manuela chef aims to bring bold flavors of Texas to California’s Design District. The opening date has yet to be announced, but the restaurant is already in the works. The menu will focus on Tex-Mex, and the chef hopes to introduce some California cuisine to those who love to experiment with bold flavors.
Menu
Soulmate is a new Spanish and Mediterranean restaurant in West Hollywood, featuring a large patio and expansive indoor dining areas. The restaurant was designed by Kelly Architects and features antique mirror-colored glass on the walls and shelves. The chef, Rudy Lopez, has worked at NoMad in Los Angeles and Jose Andres’ Mi Casa in Puerto Rico. His menu features Spanish-inspired dishes based on regional and seasonal produce.
The restaurant opened early in May. Previously, Soulmate featured the culinary talent of Wes Whitsell, who gained recognition as the chef of Manuela in LA. However, he left the restaurant in late 2017 to spend more time with family in his native Texas. He later returned to LA and began working at Pacifique.

Founders
The Soulmate West Hollywood restaurant is currently in a pre-opening phase. The former Manuela star, Wes Whitsell, is no longer heading up the kitchen. He has decided to leave the restaurant to pursue other projects. This will leave the restaurant without a chef who is known for his Texas heritage cooking and live fire cooking.
Soulmate West Hollywood is currently hiring and looking for the right people to join the opening team. The restaurant has two hiring events scheduled this week, on Monday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Tuesday, October 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
