It offers goods and services to active military, retired service members, and some civilians on Navy bases abroad and aboard Navy ships. NEXCOM is a retail store chain
The Navy Exchange, also known as NEXCOM, is a retail store chain owned by the Department of the Navy. NEXCOM oversees over three hundred retail stores throughout the world. Their mission is to help sailors save money while purchasing quality goods. They are also committed to supporting quality of life programs for the Navy.
The Navy Exchange Service Command runs a number of retail outlets for military personnel, retirees, and their families. Their flagship store in Pearl Harbor brings in more than $125 million a year, and profits are comparable to those of its civilian counterparts. The majority of the profits are dispersed to Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) programs for service members and their families. The retail store chain is made up of 116 Navy Exchanges, 207 Ship Stores, 112 Uniform Centers, and 38 Navy Lodges.
It operates in Singapore and Bahrain
Several Department of Defense (DoD) organizations are headquartered in Singapore, including the U.S. Army, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Defense Contract Management Agency. Singapore is also home to COMLOGWESTPAC, the principal logistics agent for the 7th Fleet. The COMLOGWESTPAC also oversees bilateral exercises in Southeast Asia, including the Manukau and Sabah maritime exercises.
The Navy Exchange in Singapore features an array of items, from greeting cards to linens to electronics. It also sells a small selection of athletic apparel and shoes. Other items available at the Navy Exchange include watches and sunglasses, and a large selection of groceries, including fresh milk and produce. The store also accepts all major credit and debit cards, and Singapore dollars.
It sells brand-name and private-label merchandise
The Navy Exchange Service is a $2 billion retail division that supports Navy uniforms, ship stores, telecommunications and the community. The exchange serves as a community hub and must be appealing to the consumer. Located at Navy bases worldwide, the Navy Exchange sells brand-name and private-lable merchandise at low prices. The Exchange also provides services like gift-wrapping and wire services.
